My students come from many different cultural backgrounds, and most are living in low income households. They are eager learners with high spirits and love the arts. Many kids have several siblings, cousins and grandparents that reside in the same home.
I teach kindergarten, second, fourth and seventh graders.
Each grade level has its own needs and topics to be covered for students to progress and move on to the next grade level. Our district does not have a large budget at all. Usually we receive enough funding to purchase some crayons and markers and a small amount of paper. Our kids go through these supplies quickly, and we often rely on donations and local organizations to help us meet their needs.
With your help, it is my hope that their art classroom can be filled with new materials for them to explore, exciting supplies and images to look at, and wonderful experiences that will make an impression on them. This is their only chance to establish a love for art, as it is no longer mandatory after they leave elementary school. Help spread the love!
Art 21 DVDs are very informative documentary and interview style biographies of current contemporary artists. It is important for students to understand current trends in art making and these videos are well made. There is something for everyone when it comes to Art 21 documentaries. The artists are extremely talented and believe in what they do, it is inspiring to all involved.
Differentiation in the classroom made easy with these quality movies.
They will change the way we learn about artists and allow for video clips to be shown in conjunction with relevant art lessons. They are a wonderful resource to have in any classroom, but an art classroom especially.
