Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I love that my students are so creative and anxious to learn. Since the students don't get an art period, I try to incorporate art in some way to add to our lessons. For example, during one of our read alouds about a toad, rat, otter and badger, I had the kids make rats with googly eyes. We then continued on and made toads. This craft brought relevance to the story and the childrens' imaginations. I like to add craft ideas as I find it engaging to all my students. As we are working as a whole group, I am promoting communication, social skills and creativity in a safe and fun environment. My third graders love when they get to make things.
