Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have an amazing group of kindergartners. My class is a mix of both English learners and English proficient students. My students are eager learners and they have a positive attitude for learning.
Our school is a Title I school which services primarily immigrant and working-class families.
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused interruption to the lives of many including my students. All parents and teachers have tried their best to provide the best environment for our students. I want to support my students with fun and engaging ways to learn as they return back to school.
My Project
Coming back from distance learning, my young students will need to exercise their fine motor skills when handling tape. How fun would it be to practice peeling tape off the child safe tape dispenser and creating an art piece with tape.
Art encourages creativity in students as they have to mentally think how to coordinate colors, shapes, lines, and spacing.
The child safe tape dispenser and tape would be student accessible at the art center table. Adults would not have to worry about students getting hurt when they use it independently.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
