My Students
My school is located in a high poverty urban area in the second largest city in the state of Maine. I am the Art Teacher and I am blessed to be working with each and every student! Many of my children have very diverse backgrounds, speak many languages and have special needs. Our entire school is on a free breakfast and lunch plan along with snacks such as fruits or vegetables each day. The reality for most of our students is that school might be the only stable and engaging environment in their lives. It is our job to keep these students engaged, excited and motivated! The one thing that each one of our wonderfully diverse students posses is the ability and drive to learn. I would like to continue this positive motivation and help inspire them in the Art Room.
My Project
This year our school has been forced to take on many new students and room has become an issue! My students are going to be transitioning from an Art Classroom to a stage as their new Art learning environment! Currently the stage (our new art classroom) does not have any technology ability. I’m making a goal to help recreate the structures I put in place and maintain routine, whether we are in a classroom or on the stage! I used a desktop computer in my classroom this past year. However that desktop computer will not be moving with us to the stage! I'm hoping to replace that desktop computer with the Ipad. Compact size, easily packed away, because we will not have a lot of storage on the stage! I used my projector and technology every day in the art room, for power points, visuals of famous artists, music and more. These tools help enhance their learning and allow for more learning styles to be explored! Our visual learners thank you in advance!! Please consider helping my school and helping my students during this transition! With your help our move to the stage will be effortless and fun knowing we have the tools we need to be successful no matter the classroom location!
