Art takes paper! Sometimes it is a planning sketch for a sculpture, other times it is a finished still life, a completed painting, or scraps glued together in new and exciting ways. Each year my students light up when a crisp blank sheet of paper slides across the table. It signals a fresh new start, a new beginning, a new thing to learn, a new way to express themselves.

These papers will be used for drawing projects, painting projects, and multimedia explorations. My youngest students will learn basic cutting and gluing skills, while my oldest will hone more advanced paper crafting skills. We will paint, and draw, and trace, and cut, and print, and smile, and laugh, and learn. We will be brave in the face of new challenges. We will grow as artists and humans.
