Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Art club is a space for our creative kids to come together, listen to music, and do arts and crafts. We do not have a formal arts program at our school because it is embedded within science and English classes. On Tuesdays from 4-5, I get to hang out with about 12 kids from 9-11th grade. Our kids come from low-income backgrounds and many of them find a respite from daily life in being creative. Holding this space for them has become a sacred part of my week.

My Project

The art club kids love to create beautiful works of art after school on Tuesdays. The paper in this order will provide each student with their own sketch pad to take home to practice. The alcohol markers and gouache are specific requests from kids so they can get practice with more expensive materials that they normally would not have access to. The kids are very excited about playing with these new supplies. Some of the artwork may even be featured in our school's magazine. Thanks so much for your support!
