Help me give my students new supplies for the upcoming school year for our Art Therapy programs. Students will use these materials to explore and experience many different types of therapeutic activities.
Our school is a publicly funded school which serves K through 12 students from 12 different school systems in our state. Many students are on the bus for at least an hour before and after school each day being transported to and from their house. Students are offered services such as occupational therapy, counseling, and vocational rehabilitation services.
Our services are made available to students who might benefit from having a more structured environment with smaller class sizes that exceed no more than 12 students that focus on the social-emotional growth of the individual.
Students and teachers utilize a point system that tracks data on each individual student, empowering parents, teachers, students, and districts to see where progress can or has been made.
My Project
Our school services all of the Northeast portion of Georgia and is K-12 special education. Our curriculum is mainly focused on social emotional learning. Students will benefit greatly from the resources requested.
By donating to the Art Therapy classroom you will be giving the students basic classroom supplies that our school needs for the upcoming school year.
Your generous donation to the art classroom will allow art therapy students to create monochromatic self portraits on canvases for the annual art show that happens in January each year. Students will learn to explore ceramics and build up confidence to create objects using a pottery wheel. Students will learn to be part of a team and build social skills during their Friday art club activities using the paper clay in an outdoor classroom setting. Students love having the opportunity to participate in special activities like glazing and finalizing their pottery pieces for gifts during the holiday season.
Art Therapy is an excellent medium to encourage students to express emotions, build self-esteem, and encourage prosocial behaviors. With your help these students could have great experiences for the upcoming school year.
