Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach an incredible group of 2nd graders who come from a wide range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds. My classroom is a vibrant mix of ideas, traditions, and perspectives, and I see every day how art helps my students express who they are. Many of my students do not have access to art materials at home, so our classroom is a special place where creativity thrives—and where every child can feel seen and celebrated through their artwork.

This project will bring essential art supplies into our classroom to help students explore and express their creativity.

I am requesting oil pastels, watercolors, paintbrushes, watercolor paper, paint trays, whiteboards, dry-erase markers, and whiteboard erasers.

These materials will allow my students to dive into hands-on art projects that support both their artistic and academic growth. Watercolors and oil pastels will help them learn about color mixing, texture, and form. Quality brushes and paper will give their artwork the polish it deserves. Paint trays will help keep materials organized and accessible for every student during group work.

The whiteboards and dry-erase markers will be used for sketching, brainstorming, and practicing artistic techniques before applying them to final pieces. These tools encourage creativity, collaboration, and quick feedback—all critical for developing confident young artists.

Art helps students process their emotions, communicate ideas, and connect with one another across cultural lines. In our diverse classroom, it also gives each child the chance to share their story visually. With your support, I can give my 2nd graders the tools they need to bring their imagination to life and build important skills that carry across all subjects.
