My high school art students are a mixture of energetic, intelligent teenagers. Suspended between the child-adult phase, my students are seeking and learning a variety of things everywhere that they can. We are a small, rural community and most of my students I have had the honor to teach their parents and/or family member.
I believe that art, along other branches of the Fine Arts, are a critical component to the STEAM Education development.
I believe that students with art knowledge and creativity can create the impossible, to be flexible and to become a well-round citizen of the 21st century. Art helps to provide an openness for learning - a chance to express oneself in an area of intelligence that expands one's horizon. We are an education community that honor the arts and view it as an integral part of our school's role in the education of future citizens. In our small high school - we are "full STEAM ahead" with our students.
My Project
My Art students need art supplies. My classroom is equipped with general supplies for the beginning art student. Art supplies are expensive and I am needing more supplies & art mediums to expand the learning experience with the intermediate artist. These new supplies will enable my students to explore their ability through fabric dyeing, drawing, painting, pastels, and sculpture. These supplies will be used throughout the year; we will be using them during group and individual time.
Your generous donation would provide advanced art supplies to these intermediate students with the goal of not only improving and increasing attention focus along with production, but also help to increase their academic and creative achievement within the components of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math).
It is my goal to have students work with fabric dyeing with a basic tie dye; to further their technique in drawing with graphite, charcoal, ink, colored pencils, and scratch art; to paint with liquid watercolor paints and a variety of other paints for experience and personal growth while making opinions for a preference of liked painting style; to explore and gain knowledge with chalk and oil pastels and to take two-dimensional art work to a third-dimension with sculpture in building fun Sculpey clay projects. This will encourage and give these art students' a larger range in exploration and experience with art and using art mediums. These young artist will be encouraged and find new talent, develop a more in-depth creativity with learned techniques, knowledge and skill within the art class
