This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
For this project, I am requesting a variety of pencils, markers, and paper so students can create posters and related projects in our English class.
My students love creatively displaying their learning, and some of their favorite activities have been projects that infuse art.
For example, when we read A Streetcar Named Desire, students create posters analyzing a character's evolution and purpose. During our Macbeth unit, students create one-pagers tracing the significance of a word (such as time, blood, or hands) and how its meaning changes throughout the play. Students will use the paper and markers to create these posters and showcase their learning. The posters are then displayed in the classroom and on hallway bulletin boards.
Projects like these cultivate students' critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and empathy—essential skills for interpreting literature and understanding diverse perspectives.
