This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is an SDC (special day class) special ed classroom for students with mild to moderate disabilities. Many of my students are Autistic and need modified curriculum and teaching strategies to meet their needs.

My special education students are also in an extremely low income area and many are also English Learners.

They have a lot to overcome and special resources go a long way to helping students achieve their goals. Unfortunately our classroom budgets have to go toward essentials like paper, pencils and glue and their is no money for enrichment. That is where generous donors like you are able to help bridge the gap.

My Project

My special needs kindergarten class learns about colors throughout the year. Believe it or not the crayons we have access to only come in basic colors and do not include colors like pink and gray. We have many activities that require these colors and so I am hoping to be able to provide access to these colors. We are also going to be using the craft supplies for our big holiday projects that the kids look forward to making all year and presenting to their families.

These art supplies will be used to help a very sweet group of special education students to access curriculum and make progress toward their personal goals in a highly engaging way.
