My energetic 2nd graders love to move, explore, and play, and our schoolyard is where so many of those joyful moments happen. It's where friendships are formed, teamwork is practiced, and healthy habits begin to grow. Unfortunately, our outdoor equipment is limited, and my students don't always have enough ways to stay active and engaged during playtime.\r\n\r\nWith your support, hula hoops and roller scooters will bring a whole new level of excitement and opportunity to our playground. Hula hoops will spark creativity through games, challenges, and fun fitness activities, while roller scooters will promote collaboration as students race, glide, and design obstacle courses together. These tools will help my students build coordination, balance, and teamwork skills in ways that feel like pure fun.\r\n\r\nBut the impact goes far beyond physical activity. Through play, students learn how to share, solve problems, communicate, and encourage one another. These are skills that shape their confidence and carry over into the classroom every day. Active, cooperative play gives children the chance to grow socially, emotionally, and academically.\r\n\r\nYour generosity will transform our playground into a space for active, joyful, and inclusive play for every child. Thank you for helping us roll, hoop, and move toward healthier, happier students. I have discovered several powerful science intervention resources on Teachers Pay Teachers—materials thoughtfully created by innovative educators who truly understand what a struggling 2nd grader needs to succeed. With your support, I will be able to bring these differentiated, targeted tools directly into our science block, giving every student the chance to learn and grow at the level that fits them best.\r\n\r\nThese resources will help my students build strong foundations in three essential science areas: habitats, life cycles, and landforms. These topics are not only key parts of our curriculum, but they are also the areas where my students need the most support. By using these materials, students will be able to explore, practice, and deepen their understanding through engaging, hands-on activities that meet them right where they are.\r\n\r\nYour generosity will allow my students to access meaningful lessons that spark curiosity, strengthen scientific thinking, and build confidence. The kids were so excited to see all the new things they received. They all cheered when I showed them the items that came in. Since losing most of their playground due to construction the kids were so excited to receive a volleyball net to use during PE. They're excited to use the nets and pucks to play hockey and learn a new sport. The novels will be great for novel studies done during ELA time and the microscope slides will show them new things they have never seen before. As we've done projects they have used the colors of the world pencils and markers for coloring and thought they were the coolest thing. \r\nOne of the items my students were so excited to use was the writing tablets. They used these for a math game where they have to write their math facts down and keep track of. They were all excited to play the multiplication game when I showed them how to use the tablets. This class was so appreciative of the items that were sent for them and I am excited for my future classes to come that will get to use them. Thank you again for the amazing donation that allowed my class to have these new resources.","fullyFundedDate":1758757868169,"projectUrl":"project/equipping-young-minds-and-bodies/9752592/","projectTitle":"Equipping Young Minds and Bodies","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Camarena","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10276277_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758764389789","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10276277"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_34157","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":471,"numTeachers":27,"percentFrplEligible":93,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":12,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":81,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"17.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":66.0,"schoolId":34157,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Woodrow Wilson Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Woodrow Wilson Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/colton-joint-unified-school-district/woodrow-wilson-elementary-school/34157"}
