Art Supplies for Distance Learning

My Students

Our school is a Title I school located in southeast San Diego, CA. I have a high number of English language learners and an ethnically diverse population with Filipino, Hispanic, and African American students. Transitional Kindergarten and kindergarten is the first school experience for most of my students. Their favorite things to do are to build, pretend play, do art projects, and explore the world around them. They are full of energy! They have a love of learning and endless curiosity about their world.

My Project

My students have never had the opportunity to be together in person. I have tried to incorporate art at home with little to no art supplies. Their faces light up every time we do an art project together on Zoom. I have tried to be creative by using household items or varying the art projects, but watercolors and watercolor paper would really help my students to express their creativity and their feelings.

Art brings a sense of calm and happiness to children which is needed now more than ever.

We will paint not only what we see around us, but learn about other artists and illustrators. Every child is an artist, and I am hoping these materials will bring new joy and creativity to my students' lives.
