This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a low-income, high-mobility school that is Title I. This means all of our children receive free breakfast and lunch during the school day. We have a diverse population and serve children and families from many different cultures.

The students at our school are sweet and crave positive interactions and for someone to show a genuine interest in them.

They are eager to learn new things and love to share what they have learned with others. These students need positive role models in their lives to introduce them to the wonders of the world around them.

My Project

We are always running out of the supplies we need to complete various art projects in the classroom. I strive to incorporate art into as many academic concepts as I can throughout the school year. Puppets, dioramas, and collaborative posters are some examples. The items such as markers, glitter, and clay will restock our cabinets for the upcoming school year.

I really believe that the more creative and hands-on a lesson is, the better students learn.

Allowing students to demonstrate their mastery in different academic areas with art projects gives students a fun way to express themselves and their learning.
