Welcome to my classroom of 16 2nd graders. 100% of my students receive free and reduced lunch and over half live in public housing. The majority of my students are being raised by single parents or even grandparents and great grandparents. Despite my student's struggles, they are eager to learn and get very excited when it comes to school. For many, school is the one thing that is consistent in their lives and they love it! This year has been an exceptionally challenging year for my students as we are learning to navigate distance learning.
My goal is to expose my students to as many experiences as possible.
I hope to enrich their lives and create a passion within them for life long learning. I also hope to prepare them for a successful future by giving them the skills and creativity they need to compete in the world.
My Project
Students LOVE art! One of the biggest incentives for my students is art. During distance learning art was a huge motivation for my students. Their creativity and confidence flourished with our "Fun Friday" art lessons. Next year, I would like to expand those projects to be included in my writing, science, and social studies lessons.
My students are in need of art supplies and a system to store and organize their projects.
Art supplies do not fit in our classroom budget. Please help me to provide art supplies for my students.
