This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in my school are quite diverse. Students come from different neighborhoods all over the city. They are from different backgrounds both culturally and financially. However they all come together to our school to learn in both Spanish and English. During their time at school, students attend art class anywhere from one to two times a week.

Providing a fun learning environment with essential tools that allow for creative expression is imperative in fulfilling the need to educate the whole child.

My Project

Teaching art is one of the best ways to help kids tap into their creative sides while also learning in a fun and exciting new way. These supplies will provide opportunities for my students that were previously delayed or even unable to be accomplished.

New art supplies will give kids a larger palette to work from in order to express themselves creatively.

Pencils are an essential item to art class for sketching and even as a medium to express art. Other basics such as crayons, colored pencils, and markers are utilized on a regular basis by students to draw, color, and learn to blend colors. Water color and acrylic paint will be used to bring our self portraits to life as well as help in creating larger pieces of art for our older students. Additional items which we constantly run out of or break such as scissors, glue, tape, sharpies, and paper are absolutely needed to complete the art process.
