Art Supples To Help Us Create Interactive Notebooks
My students need 3 student work organizers, 30 lapboards, 10 reams of paper, 30 composition books, 30 glue sticks, 200 markers, 12 scissors, 100 dry erase makers, and crayons.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students know the routine of the classroom but get bored with worksheets that are given to us for free. We have no art supplies, construction paper, notebooks ,etc. Having supplies will give them enthusiasm for working hard as well as help differentiate for the left and right side of the brain.
Being in a Title 1 school, all my students are underprivileged and come from low income homes and they don't come to school with needed supplies.
The school district cuts have been tremendous this year and we have no supplies, especially art supplies. Art class was cut from our school and as teachers we cannot afford art supplies. Teachers have spent hundreds of dollars so far on basic supplies like paper and pencils.
My Project
I will be having the student create interactive notebooks for Literacy which require a lot of cutting and pasting. They will be able to use the art supplies (crayons, markers, scissors, glue), notebooks, and paper to create meaningful foldables/personalized textbooks in a creative way. I will have student work organized in their own folder/organizer. These interactive notebooks are meaningful to students because they will have a lifelong notebook to reference for all the skills they have learned in fourth grade (Cause and effect, authors purpose, tone vs. mood, informational texts, etc). These notebooks allow for creativity and focus on students left and right side of the brain. These materials that I am requesting( crayons, markers, scissors, copy paper, notebooks, whiteboards) will bring literacy back to life for them and help students to create meaningful learning using their creativity.
Art class has been taken away from our school.
I believe these supplies will allow for the students to put more meaning and creativity into their learning. They will be able to use the crayons, markers, paper, notebooks, and scissors to create their own personalized interactive notebook. They will see pride in their notebook which is something they will have for years to come. The purpose of the interactive notebook is to enable students to be creative, independent thinkers and writers. Interactive notebooks are used for class notes as well as for other activities where the student will be asked to express his/her own ideas and process the information presented in class.
