Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Update: Our school is set to close permanently at the end of 2021. We are incredibly saddened by this decision but remain hopeful for the future and are appreciative of all donations. Thank you for supporting our students in any way that you can.
My students are eager to experience what it feels like to be an artist, a maker, and a creator.
They are full of dreams and ideas for themselves and want to express their uniqueness in the work they do.
All my students are open to new experiences and aren’t afraid to take creative risks. The only thing that is holding them back is the lack of resources and supplies necessary to make their passions come to life.
Our school is located in the bustling city of downtown Los Angeles. We are surrounded by so much energy, culture, and languages. We are a community that fosters healthy relationships and we strive to support each other as a family would.
My Project
In the high school art studio the research and planning process is just as important as the creation process. Books allow students to gain a historical perspective from which to form their opinions about what art has been and how it’s evolved through time. When students plan for projects they need to have resources to rely on for inspiration such as art specific books.
A collection of art books will provide students with the perfect resource to become inspired, well informed, and able to cultivate a well rounded artistic practice.
I believe it is important that we include books on the priority list for the art classroom just as basic supplies are prioritized. Please consider donating to this project whose goal is to create a small but mighty art library for the art studio classroom.
