This is for the Social Studies, AVID and Art departments of our High School.
Art needs more tables and a new heat gun to give students more space to work outside and create new projects. In addition, they are in need of storage space for their numerous supplies and projects.
Social studies have some students who need extra help. These books will help both the teachers and students differentiate within their classes and make sure all students have equal learning.
Gives Art a safe learning environment and inspiration to young artists, as they can go outside to paint and create.
Social studies will differentiate their lessons and help struggling students in a safe way.
For AVID, it will help them with organization and keep them accountable for the work they do in all classes.
In Their Own Words
To help give supplies to Social Studies, Art and Avid so they can effectively teach and give their kids the best options they can. Helps some of our kids who don't have the money to get extra books or are embarrassed to ask for extra help the same opportunity as everyone else.
The supplies help the older students help the younger ones. The upperclassmen are very involved in AVID as mentors to the freshmen and sophomores. All levels of students are in the Art classes, so the students help each other create in a collaborative environment. In social studies, it takes away the stigma that a lower economic family may have to face.
The Art Department's budget was cut this year, so some of the things they need to replace had to be put on hold. This allows them to replace old materials and organize the new ones. Our school is 1-to-1 technology, but some students still don't have internet access at home. The books allow us to lend materials out to help them.
