My Students

My Art classroom serves about 160 9-12th grade students at a campus that is shared by a public high school and visual and performing arts charter school. The school draws students from diverse backgrounds all over our rural county in the beautiful Sierra foothills of California.

Many of my students come from middle to low-income families.

My students take pride in their elective choices and love being able to express themselves through art. Every day, I am inspired by their resiliency and creative energy. They deserve high quality tools and materials to work with.

My Project

The art students in Beginning and Advanced Art are consistently creating work in a variety of media. All 160 students currently share a very limited amount of drying space on 2 small, bent drying racks. This can lead to projects overlapping, sliding in to one another, and being damaged throughout the drying process.

This new drying rack system will allow my students to properly store their in-progress artworks.

The rack provides enough space for this large community of student artists to store their work without overlapping or sliding. This will allow student artists to maintain a higher quality of presentation in projects and encourage them to take pride in the results of their hard work.
