Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are currently in need of clipboard organization, wallpaper, a cool-down corner timer, library additions, and a teacher laptop stand.
The old style of clipboards get jumbled in the bin so quickly.
They are are hard to maneuver and easy to spill everywhere. That is why my classroom would benefit so much from new low-profile clipboards with kid-friendly and inspiring colors, as well as a clipboard storage system.
I've had a vision for applying peel & stick wallpaper over some old cabinets and shelving to really spruce up the art room, and I would just love to be able to bring that vision to fruition!
The timer listed is for student use, when taking time in the cool-down corner. This is so that they can take responsibility for how much time is spent, and come back to join the class activities when they are ready.
The books I've chosen to add to the classroom library are dear to my heart. The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a classic that I have a Pre-K project centered around. The student artists deserve to experience the joy of viewing the interactive pages first hand! The other book, Just Ask!, is one that helps students understand how to process and talk about differences among students that make one another unique. I feel strongly that these skills are essential to child development, and can even help me explain to them about my own differences and challenges.
Lastly, the laptop stand is for my own organization, so that I can teach from my desk, and have my document camera at the ready for artmaking demonstrations, in the same desk space.
