I am requesting a donation of general Art Materials to use with my 220 students from Kindergarten through the Eighth Grade. I am a Visual Art Teacher at a public school with an Arts Integrated Curriculum. Our school is a typical urban public school, a lively, under resourced institution, where 45% of our students are eligible for the federal free lunch program.
Unfortunately, this year our school has a tiny Arts Budget, which has severely limited the kinds of learning experiences I can offer my students. The basic materials I've selected are all part of what a full, well rounded Art curriculum should be. Unfortunately, in California we hover close to the bottom of the national average per capita spending on students, therefore I'm reaching out to ask for funding to supplement the basic materials I'm currently able to offer my students, in order to diversify their educational experiences.
The quality and diversity of materials I'm able to use with my students sends my kids a loud message: your Art is valuable. This is the message I want to communicate! Right now, my materials are not conveying that important information. The materials I'm seeking will afford my students the opportunity work with quality materials that supports their learning and experimentation in the Arts.
Your support will make a difference in the lives of children who ordinarily do not have opportunities to learn about the Arts, by stocking our Art room shelves with beautiful materials to support a year of learning in the Arts.
