Art Paper for Everyone Remote Learning!

Help me give my students a mixed media sketchbook, so they will each be able to have paper at home no matter what kind of art we make!

My Students

I am so fortunate to teach this amazing group of students here in Downeast Maine! I knew this long before we had to engage in distance learning but during the last few months of school, my students worked so hard to show me what art REALLY means to them!

My students are predominantly from lower-income families living paycheck to paycheck and receiving free or reduced lunch.

Many of my students told me when this began that they lacked basic art-making materials in their homes, so how can they make art? On our very first full school remote day, I had students telling me they lacked simple white paper for drawing.

My incredibly supportive community and the entire school staff have been trying to provide students individually with materials as the need becomes known; however, many families would never feel comfortable telling someone they could not afford basic supplies. I want to help ALL of my students in this tough time, but I need help.

My Project

Even while learning art from a cart my students still explore a variety of media, including paint. Thanks to a lot of support and generosity my students each have a remote learning art kit filled with basic art-making materials.

One thing most of my students don't have is paper, more specifically, most of my students don't have art paper or sketchbooks.

It is such a simple basic material that makes a huge difference in their learning experience! A sketchbook, like the ones I am requesting, would allow my students to have a designated source of paper at home for making any kind of art we do while remote, even painting or collage work.
