This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My scholars are diverse, hard-working, challenging and beautifully gifted, tenderhearted and wise beyond their years. Some of these kids have had to grow up faster than kids their age should have to.
My students deserve a safe space to be themselves, to be kids, to make mistakes, and to create magic with their hands.
My biggest goal is to provide these scholars with materials that captivate their creative minds and teach them new and old amazing art techniques. Thank you!
My Project
Now, this may not seem like the most fun gift to give, but this is by far the MOST efficient. If I could request one thing for my kids right now, I would request a drying rack on wheels! I push an art cart around with all the art supplies from room to room (we are waiting for our New Building to be built, so teachers roam for the time being). When students have wet paint or glue on their projects, we inconvenience the drying process of their work AND the classrooms we create in by leaving our work there to dry. This also makes it very hard for us to come back to the same project day after day since we don’t have room to dry all 130 artistic masterpieces.
If we had a drying rack on wheels, I could dry student’s work on the rack and push it to each classroom AND I could broaden my curriculum from just a one day project into a greater workshop!
After the drying rack, I am looking to make art dreams come true for my kids. Some of them haven't gotten the opportunity to really experiment with art and find their talent yet; with these materials, we could make magic. Join me in giving the gift of joy through art to my kids.
Thank you SO much for helping my Art Dreams come true. Even though we have space issues, Jefferson RISE will keep our promise of getting our kids to college. If you have that awesome desire to cover ALL expenses, I promise to give you not only a handmade sculptor, painting, and stamp, but also a customized t shirt made by one of my 9th Grade AAC Scholars. Thank you so so much!
