This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My wonderful 6th grade students are excited about including art in our curriculum. Sadly, the funding for art supplies has been cut off. We are studying the ancient world and have found so many amazing paintings and artifacts. We know that art enhances learning on all levels.
All of my students are English Language Learners and come from a low socioeconomic background.
However, like all 6th graders, they love art and would enjoy the opportunity to work in a variety of mediums.
My Project
My 6th grade students are enthusiastic and excited about our study of the ancient world. We've learned about so many amazing artifacts and paintings. It would add so much to our learning if we could have supplies to recreate some of the works we've read about.
Art matters and it shouldn't be only for those who can afford it.
My students come from a very low socioeconomic back ground and cannot afford to buy their own art supplies. We need paint and brushes in our classroom. By bringing art into our classroom, I can support my students as they receive a well rounded education.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
