Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a third-year fourth-grade teacher in a low-income neighborhood in the Bronx. All of the students in my class receive free lunch, as do 99 percent of the students in the school. I am requesting a donation of art supplies for my kids. I presently incorporate art into the social-studies curriculum, and I have noticed how the students' eyes light up when we do art and how creative the class can be. My students do not have any special art-based classes, and they greatly enjoy the opportunity to make art since they so rarely get a chance to be creative. Fourth grade is mostly geared toward teaching for the three state tests they need to take and pass, so art is a perfect outlet for them. Art enables students who are not as strong academically to find their niche, or something they can do well. Art also enables my kids to release their stress and just be children. Your donation will help to purchase paper, fabric, mirrors, rhinestones, and other materials that we will use in all kinds of projects. Thank you for your time, consideration, and support of New York City's public school children.
