This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a diverse low income high poverty neighborhood. Despite the many challenges they face, our school works very hard to provide these children with as many positive worldly experiences. I have recently been provided with an art classroom and am very excited to give these children an art studio experience they truly deserve. I would love to include a little reference library that the children can explore, learn and draw ideas and inspiration from. I think it would be a great addition to the art studio.

My Project

In addition to art making students will learn about several artists and art techniques. They will explore the art library that is set up in our newly formed art studio/classroom and learn about artists, art styles, and art work.

We will use these books to inform and inspire us.

This library will be used with all grades kindergarten thru fifth. It will reach our avid readers, beginning readers, special needs students, and English language learners.

The books I've chosen are rich with pictures and actual works of art. The children will be exposed to the lives of famous artists, their works and styles. I think that this library will open a world of creativity to these deserving children. We will use these books to help us in our own art making.
