Our art students are lucky enough to have art on a regular basis. This means we make a lot of art! Painting, drawing (pencil, colored pencil, pastels, oil pastels), and printmaking projects are finished every week in the middle school art room. While these projects are amazing and real-world connections are made, I want my students (regardless of career path) to become lifelong creators.
The 365 Days of Art book request will allow my 8th grade students to journal and create art on a regular, daily basis at home or at school while seeing that art can be created in many simple ways (doodling, erasing, tearing, gluing, writing, etc.).
These books will teach my students that journaling, no matter what they are creating or writing, how they are answering journal prompts, writing random thoughts, or mark making, can be a wonderful stress reducer. The donation would allow my students to de-stress and create art at home, easily, with basic supplies.
Many of my students do not have scissors, colored pencils, markers, and other art supplies at home. These journals do not require regular art supplies - they can create with anything! These journals are perfect for students of all abilities and needs. They can respond to the prompts in their own creative ways! Our art students will see they are all artists and can create art for life!
