My Students

My students are very special because they have very diverse backgrounds. They bring many different views since there home life is very different from each other.

They enjoy coming to school each day and are ready to learn even when dealing with obstacles at home.

They are very energetic and caring. There are many role models in the class. They are hardworking and want to learn. All of them participate in different activities and enjoy trying something new. Also, they like science. They are a unique bunch of students!

My Project

These arts supplies (watercolors, trays, mold and play moon sand, paintbrushes and magnetic hooks) will give students the opportunity to practice and use their art skills. Since students are low income they may not have access to any art supplies at home. We do many different art projects throughout the year using watercolors and paintbrushes. We use the paintbrushes and watercolors to make murals, lines for texture, and to show how to create shadows in a painting. Students also connect the pictures they paint to writing and write about what they created. The trays are used so students can paint on them and the magnet hooks are so students can display their artwork in the classroom and feel proud of what they created.

These supplies give students a chance to express themselves through art who may not have the chance to do it at home.

It is great to be able to do art and get exposure to that. It also gives students a chance to feel successful in a subject who may not get that feeling in reading, writing, or math. Art is a universal subject so my students who are new to the country will get a chance to show what they can do.
