The students at our school come to school each day ready to learn. Unfortunately, for many of our students, resources are scarce. Many of our students come from low-income families. We are in an area that has a high population of migrant farmers. Most of my students come from single parent families who work two to three jobs. Our school is Title 1 and has a high population of English Language Learners. Our school has worked extremely hard, with a lot of success to bring resources into the school to create a learning environment that is engaging and a place where students want to come each day. For example, even though we are a public school, our students wear uniforms. Our certified librarians have been eliminated in our district. Because of this, the budget for new books has also been eliminated. Therefore these requested books will help to provide my students with much needed books.
