Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Every day, more and more art and music classes are being cut from the curriculum. Unfortunately, although many teachers try, it is very difficult to fund art and music materials for an entire classroom year after year. The benefits of a curriculum infused with art and music are innumerable. In addition to allowing for movement and creativity, art and music stimulate whole brain learning and cognitive growth. I am a first grade teacher in an inner city elementary school. Most of my students come from impoverished home lives that do not permit them to take extracurricular activities. Unfortunately, because these programs are also being cut in our schools, these students are losing out on the opportunities that art and music can provide. I would like to provide my students with the materials they need to fully experience art and music in their daily lives. Funding this proposal would provide students who are in need with the following materials: rhythm sticks, CD's, scarves with rhythm CD's, clay with tools, paper, gel pens, glitter, multimedia art supplies, containers for storage, stamp sets, stencils, and much more! Your generosity is extremely valuable to these children. Thank you in advance for your time and generosity.
