This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are an alternative high school and offer 3 art classes. A basic art class, perspective in art and a yearbook class.
We like to attempt different types of project and really step outside of the box and use color and be creative.
We also do quite a few projects in color and love to explore different techniques.
By offering art, it is a great outlet to let the students relax while being able to use the creative side of thinking in class. It gives them a chance to relax from core classes.
My Project
I am looking to be able to add more supplies to our classroom. I joined the team at my school after an art order had been placed already and would like to be able to add more basic supplies so the second semester can continue with some projects.
Creativity is crucial and with out enough art supplies it limits what we can do.
I like to be able to allow free draw in my class as well as color to a variety of projects that we do. I like to have a supply on hand to help when we change projects or students suggest a project they want to do.
I love to do black and white projects with students to be able to expand design in zen tangles which is where the sharpies would be very helpful in completing the task. I feel allowing students to be creative in color and black and white really lets them see what they are capable of doing.
By adding more markers, crayons and coloring pencils would allow more students to do a few different projects. Instead of sharing as much they can work more independent and not rely on find who has what color or where they have to get it from to be able to complete a project. I love having color in the project and being able to have more resources will benefit the students to be able to complete more.
