Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Art is like a science and needs to be taught every day to every child. Art making awakens all the senses. We need art supplies and inspiration to create a learning environment within the classroom. Our new challenge is to provide art time.

My students are a wonderful group of young learners that are very creative in their thinking.

Many of my students are second language learners and come from low socioeconomic families, but they want more than ever to learn and succeed. They are very energetic, curious, and independent. I know that they need many activities to explore all their senses. Art is the perfect medium and the precursor to literacy. Especially for my English Language Learners art is vital, because children's art making is important as a nonverbal language. Art can help develop and nurture other academic skills too.

My Project

I want to engage my student on learning through the arts. Art is at the heart of every child. My children need to be creative and they can express emotions with their art making. My young learners need an easel, paper, mat and apron to paint. I want to teach art to the whole group and then have an indoor art center where they can be themselves and explore a new medium with paint. They need fun colorful dot painters, crayons, painting rollers, crinkle paper, and collage frames to express their creativity as we learn across the curriculum. An independent art learning environment would be awesome for my beautiful children to explore every day!

To do the work of artist, children need opportunities to behave, think, and perform as artist.

We need to set time to incorporate art as part of the curriculum. It is the arts that help develop and nurture skills necessary for other academic areas. My students can paint and create independently with an easel and crayons. They will develop a love for art. Find it in your hearts to nurture child development through art.
