This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are very vivacious, charismatic, and friendly. They come from a variety of backgrounds due to the proximity of our school to a university campus.

Each one of them is a world on their own.

From the beginning of the year they have worked on learning about each other, respecting similarities as well as differences, all with the goal of having the best year learning together. I believe that integrating art in our curriculum will make us all better humans.

My Project

This professional development course will provide me with the strategies that I need to successfully integrate art in all curriculum areas. This is an exciting opportunity as frequently we have so little time for the arts when so focused on math, science, reading and writing. What if we could actually motivate and create deeper conceptual understandings in our students by integrating art into the picture?

The course Art, Art, Everywhere will provide me with the tools to teach my students introspection, mindfulness, compassion, empathy, and understanding through the arts.
