My Project

Our community is built through inspirational stories and compassionate leaders. We have such diversity within our city limits that deserves to be celebrated and unified. Our EAST classroom has the tools and desire to do just that through art and storytelling.

Please help us create a signal of strength, solidarity, and compassion for each other through an art installation of woven fabrics and embroidered pieces that tell the stories of culture, unity, and a call to action for our environmental footprint.

Through your help, we will create an art installation in our downtown area that is embroidered with the flags and associated colors representing all the countries in our community, as well as embroider QR codes that link to stories, recipes, and information about the history of those countries and the environmental impact like rising sea levels that is slowly forcing the Marshallese community out of their homeland and what we can do here to help protect the environment in which we all live to slow that process. With your help, we can learn about each other and find those connections that truly make us a community of one and, at the same time, create an impact on the environment that directly influences the people's families back home.
