My students need water colors, colored markers and pencils so that I can engage all of their senses and give them a collection of skills and thought processes that transcend all areas of the academic curriculum.
My students are the best students. We have a very diverse student population with children from countries likes Syria, Uzbekistan, and Africa. We are a Title 1 school where nearly a third of my students speak English as a second language.
On a daily basis these beautiful accepting students are fully engaged in their education.
They are supportive of each other as well as welcoming mainstreamed students that spend some of their day with us that have Autism and other learning disabilities. They are loving and supportive and enjoy working as a team.
My Project
My students need markers, colored pencils and water colors so that through the study of art appreciation, they will gain a collection of skills and thought processes that transcend all areas of the academic curriculum. I want my students to have a diverse learning experience. Through the donation of these markers, colored pencils and water colors, I can focus on educating the whole child.
Children who participate in art become motivated to practice their particular art which can lead to greater attention in many areas including math and science.
For many students, school arts enrichment is all the enrichment they will get!
