This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in an early childhood center in Denton, Texas. Our center houses students from ages three to five with hands-on learning experiences that foster lifelong learners.

My students are motivated daily and seize every opportunity to learn and grow.

My Project

Learning through play is essential for learning. Please help me give my students a circular art table to explore learning through their imagination. My students love drawing, cutting, gluing, and just making things with their creativity; a revamped art center will allow students the opportunity to access art material freely and make this area more inviting. We will use the art table only in our classroom.

Fine motor skills are essential for a child's school readiness.

They include practicing hand-eye coordination, bilateral hand use, and using small hands and finders to grasp markers, crayons, brushes, and create scribbles and marks. In addition, learning through play is an essential component of learning; research shows that play allows children to communicate ideas, to understand others through social interactions, paving the way to build deeper understanding and more robust relationships. The art center/table will also aid fine motor and gross motor.
