My Project
Education in art is vital to a child's development as a student and a human being. It helps them develop their sense of curiosity, creativity, and consciousness. In my district we do not offer an visual arts special at the elementary school level. I wish to help bridge this gap by adding more opportunities for art in our regular content areas in the classroom.
We need more art supplies for the classroom in order to help develop their sense of wonder in the world and emphasize their creativity.
I plan to use these supplies to help my students make more connections with our varying content areas, develop their fine motor skills, and to reach a set of standards that is not explicitly taught in my district at the elementary level. By having tools like paint brushes, oil pastels, and play dough, enables me to create opportunities for us to sculpt, paint, blend, and understand color theory while also relating these skills to our ELA and Social Studies curriculum.
Please help me bridge this gap and allow me to have the tools I need to help these students become creative human beings that can find art in everything they learn.
