This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My high school students are full of creativity and talent. They are full of energy and potential that is transferred over into the arts. Our students flourish within theater, dance, spoken word, and visual art. The arts are used as a creative outlet where their voices and ideas can be heard. The school however consists of mostly low income students, and funds for the arts are limited.

Our high school students need these opportunities and resources to continue to develop artistically and express their voices.

My Project

My students are constantly creating amazing pieces of art work in my classroom. It can be difficult to find spaces to exhibit student art work and to show the school and the community how talented my students are. I would like to obtain the Claridge Folding Screen - to organize annual shows in the auditorium. With these supplies I will be able to run multiple shows a year and give multiple students the opportunity to exhibit their artwork.It is important for young artist to start exhibiting their work and have meaningful critique conversations with their viewing audience.

These shows will give students the opportunity to showcase their work to their peers, teachers, parents, and community.
