My Students
Every student is unique. As a teacher, I need to equip my classroom and students with a variety of tools that will match their diverse learning styles.
My 6th grade class at Rosewood Elementary is full of life and energy.
My students come from different socioeconomic backgrounds and commute from neighborhoods that are worlds apart. For 6 hours each day, they come together at our small learning community in West Hollywood, to overcome their differences and pursue an education that will give each and every one of them equal access to a bright future.
My Project
I am requesting a myriad of art supplies that will enable my students to integrate art into all subject areas, including Math, Reading, Writing, and Social Studies. For example, to enrich their studies in Ancient Civilizations, students will need clay, acrylic paints, paint brushes, and other tools to create an Egyptian sarcophagus. Students will need craft glue to build pyramids. All of these supplies and more, are essential to enriching their studies with hands on activities.
Please help academic subjects like Social Studies and Writing come alive.
With the integration of Art into these subjects, it allows for student ownership and creativity. Students will find true meaning in what they are studying, if they are allowed to build and create with their own hands and imaginations.
