Art Education Essentials: Need Supplies for Pre K - 8th.

My students need basic supplies such as paint, brushes, paper, glue, drawing pencils, and scissors to explore their creativity and initiate their art education.

My Students

Through art, students are able to learn more about creativity, expression, and innovation. They can create powerful and constructive messages to and for their community and about themselves. To do this, my students need basic supplies. Currently, my classroom only has a handful of paint brushes

My students range in age from 4 years old to 14 years old.

I teach grades Pre-K through 8th at a combined Elementary and Middle School in rural southern Mississippi. They are eager to learn. However, my students do not have access to certain basic educational tools and lack exposure to resources students in an urban environment may have.

My Project

Through these basic art materials, paint, brushes, paper, glue, drawing pencils, and scissors, students will be able to explore elements of art such as color, texture, space, value, shape, etc. We will not only learn how to create these but examine and analyze how history has used and current media uses these principles to communicate messages that effect us on a daily basis. These supplies are tools that help explore, not define or limit, a student's creativity.

It is my goal that through a in-depth art education, my students will learn more about their creativity, their ability to communicate and their great potential to positively affect themselves, each another, and their surroundings.

Under the current circumstances (lack of appropriate tools and materials) it will be extremely difficult to successfully achieve this goal.
