Do you agree that art is a vital part of an elementary curriculum? Art teaches students about problem solving, communicating, creativity and so much more. Technology makes learning these skills easier and fun for the students!
Our elementary school is a very diverse and amazing school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
I am fortunate enough to have the opportunity to inspire and teach nearly 500 students, many of whom are still learning English, do not have the ideal lifestyle at home, and/or come to school for a safe place. Nearly half of our student population are on free or reduced-price meals. My goal as an art educator is to help them feel important and confident about themselves while they are in my classroom.
My Project
I am asking for 3 Google Chromebooks for my art classroom to enhance creative learning for many different activities. The Chromebooks would be a great enrichment tool to allow students to go on visual field trips using Google's Art Project site. I am also hoping to use the Chromebooks to create QR codes for our art show to show video clips of the students talking about their artwork. The Chromebooks would allow art support for special needs students and various apps would be useful for digital art creation. My ideas for the use of Chromebooks in my art classroom are endless, and I look forward to the students excitement if they discover that we may have this new technology in art class!
Although many of my students are economically disadvantaged, I do my best, as an art educator, to give them an amazing art education.
I want them to have the same, if not better, art learning experience as all students, and I feel that technology can enhance their education. The donations to this project will support my efforts to boost creativity and provide the best art education experience possible.
