My Students
What makes my students special is their love of art and their love of learning. We are not only a newer school but we are fastly growing and getting to know each other for the first time in person. Having taught for 17 years I can clearly see an impact on my student with COVID. I see an impact academically, socially, and emotionally. Last year I was inspired to start taking courses from Nevada SEAD, Mindfulness.org, NASA; each one has given me a glimpse into the world of SEL. Lastly, at the end of last year, I wrote and received a small grant for one class to do art and SEL projects that will impact student empathy. One class is not enough and I know this financial support with help all of my students if awarded!-Ms.M
My Project
Art. Grades K-5. Standard CR 2.4.1 Explore and invent art-making techniques and approaches. The students will have an opportunity to have choices in their new art stations, providing choices in how they explore and create their work of art. Having two new stations will be a creative outlet to support the idea of T.A.B. (Teaching for Artistic Behavior) and an SEL lesson with identity and emotions which they can explore through painting and clay. Having these two art centers will provide them with the resources they do not currently have.
