My students are bright and caring children. They love to work together and learn in active ways! Our school is arts-integrated, which means we teach academic concepts and standards through the arts including drama, visual arts, creative movement, and creative writing. We teach and foster collaboration as a key cornerstone of our curriculum. Because of this collaboration, we practice inclusion for students with special needs. I also teach students who are learning English as their second language.
Our students learn how to work as a group through the creative process.
They take pride in their work and love to celebrate each other's accomplishments. Our school is such a positive environment!
My Project
My students love to create! I want to bring a project that will help them be creative and learn about STEM/STEAM subjects. I found this idea to make art-bots out of pool noodles and battery powered toothbrushes. Unfortunately, we live in Hawaii and we don't have access to a Dollar store. The cost of battery powered toothbrushes makes this project cost prohibitive for us. By creating these art-bots, students will get to use creativity by decorating their robot and will also learn about motors and machines. I know they are going to love this project and will remember it for years! It's a great entry point into more physical science concepts.
