Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have an amazing group of third and fourth grade students who work extra hard. We work hard all day long and I am focusing on supporting students to close the learning gaps that the pandemic has caused. With all the academics and rigor we do not have much time to take part in those fun art projects I remember doing in school.
I have found some art projects that tie in with our social studies curriculum and I know my students will enjoy doing.
I believe that rigor and academics are very important, but I also have to provide multiple ways for students to demonstrate their mastery of learning.
The wood boards will be used to hold salt dough (dough will be made in the ziplock bags) models of California. We will use the paint and paint brushes to color code the regions. The ceramic tiles will be for students to draw models of a Dixon landmark. I am looking forward to tying art into our day. Thank you for your support and helping my students express their creativity.
