My Students
My students are from a large, urban community that welcomes families from all backgrounds. They bring a blend of diversity, prior experiences, and culture to our school. I teach in a Kindergarten inclusion classroom where several of my students receive special education services for a range of disabilities, including intellectual, emotional, autism spectrum disorder, and many other specific learning disabilities. Many of my students also receive ESL services. The majority of my students receive free breakfast and lunch.
They are a fun-loving hard-working group of students that are eager to learn and grow!
My Project
With the new restrictions because of COVID, my students are no longer able to share any materials. We know all students do not have their own set of "everything." It is my hope to provide all of my students with the materials to learn at school and at home, however, the challenge to this model is providing them with all the necessary materials to be successful.
Having access to their own art supplies, pencils, math materials, and manipulatives are essential for learning at home.
With these materials, my students will be able to draw, create art, and practice their math skills at home, and when we return to school.
It is my hope to ensure that all of my students receive their own supplies to ease the burden of their families searching for materials that might work for them during this tough time.
