My Students

As a teacher working with students who come from low income households, I am committed to making a difference in their school lives. Many students have challenging lives at home and come to school to learn and have fun. The school gives children, like the ones in my classroom, an opportunity to learn, have fun, and succeed in school.

My students learn best through hands-on activities and play.

I love watching my students being scientists at work, artists making creations, readers looking at books, writers expressing their thoughts, and so much more. The children are building on their social skills and school readiness skills all day long.

My Project

My students enjoy art and block area a lot this year. The block play people that we currently have are old and beginning to break. Our current supply also lacks diversity. I am requesting a variety of block family sets all with ethnicities that are reflected in the classroom. Having these in the classroom will make all children feel welcome playing because it is like there family they are playing with. I am also requesting a diverse ability block people set. This shows that being in a wheelchair or needing hearing aids is okay. The last set of block play people I am requesting are the community helper wooden block set. This set shows women and men doing various jobs found in the community. I want the children to realize they can be anything they want when they grow up!

For art materials I am requesting florecent paint that shows the bright colors that dome of our children wear that reflect the clothing of their home countries.

The masking tape being requested will be out for open art where the children can create using a variety of different color masking tape.
