This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school offers a phenomenal After-school Academy for students in first through sixth grade. This is an exciting opportunity for our kids because our school is in a low economic community. This program provides opportunities that many of our students would not be able to participate in.

The students enrolled in our program are inquisitive and creative problem solvers.

They love participating in our STEAM projects, collaborating with each, sharing completed projects with other teachers, and participating in family engagement activities.

My Project

I am the Outreach Specialist for our school. The Moon Mountain After-school Academy is committed to providing the best STEAM lessons. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics. Additionally, we provide social emotional learning opportunities in which students identify their feelings, become mindful, and practice stress reducing techniques.

As our theme this year is Around the World, students engage in activities that take them to other countries via virtual field trips, exploration of different cultures and customs, and creating projects from the region of study.

For example, our students will build a pizzeria automaton and paint a masterpiece as they explore Italy.

We love to award our kids for their excellence! The requested items will be used as rewards for attendance, participation, and family engagement.
