I teach a wonderful group of about 100 students that range from Basic Skills to Higher Level Learners. Our school is a grade 6-7 school with a tradition of Excellence that is nationally recognized and committed to providing all of our students with a school environment that enables them to grow intellectually, socially, physically, and emotionally.
Our school offers our student body of 1450 students a very comprehensive educational program intended to challenge our students to achieve to their maximum potential.
We encourage our students to become “risk-takers” who use critical thinking skills and develop a "positive attitude" about themselves and about learning.
The focus of our instruction at our school is “hands-on” and “student-centered”. Cooperative learning activities facilitate the involvement of all of our students in the learning process.
My Project
Students will be using this set of Atlases frequently in class. I feel that learning geography is key to becoming a 21st century student. In order to understand current events, students need to understand where things are located and how these places relate to one another.
My students will be using these books to bring geography to life.
They will explore Africa, Europe and Asia. They will use these maps to link current events to ancient ones.
Students in my class appreciate maps and their importance in the social studies classroom. These books will be cherished and loved by my students and used on a daily basis.
