My Project

Every year, my middle school students have the opportunity to participate in a county-wide competition that celebrates reading. Battle of the Books requires them to read 6 of 10 titles that are selected from that year's SC Junior Book Award nominees. My students have been district champions in the past. I always provide access to the titles so that every student has an equitable chance to participate.

This year, my funding has been cut and I do not want my students to miss out on this year-long initiative.

This is an amazing program that pushes our students to be stronger readers. Plus, after the competition is over, I add the small sets to our library collection so that all of our students can read them on their own or as an option for classroom book clubs. Please help me put these current titles that reflect diversity into the hands of our students!
